Legislative, Political Action, and Regulatory
Legislative & Political Action:
- Works with State and Federal Legislators and their staffs in providing input and practical advice on legislative and fiscal issues.
- Develops and monitors State and Federal Congressional programs and legislation affecting the long-term care industry.
- Sponsors and conducts annual State Legislative and Federal Congressional visitation days.
- Works jointly with the American Health Care Association (AHCA) on national Legislative matters.
- Directs and sponsors New York State initiatives on a National level.
- Directs a New York State Political Action Committee C.A.R.E.
- Maintains contact with NYSHFA Members regarding: state and federal budget issues; legislative issues both state and federal.
Legal & Regulatory:
- Monitors all litigation concerned with long-term care.
- Assists Members in pursuing litigation having an industry-wide impact.
- Keeps members informed and up-to-date on all legal issues centered around resident rights, admission agreements, reimbursement, litigation and contracts.
- Maintains contact with NYSHFA Members regarding: legal cases; settlements and opinions.
- Provides quarterly legal updates via the NYSHFA Newsletter.
- Meets with various regulatory agencies, representing the long-term care industry.
- Assist Members and provides advice with regulatory matters and issues.
- Monitors State and Federal regulatory activities for new developments.
- Maintains contact with NYSHFA Members regarding: updates on regulations; interpretive guidelines; State and Federal regulatory actions; and matters related to codes, standards, life safety and physical plant.
