The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) designates a duty officer each week from among staff in the Office of Health Emergency Preparedness (OHEP). The NYSDOH Duty Officer is available at all times during non-business hours.
The NYSDOH Duty Officer is available during non-working hours (holidays, nights, and weekends) to receive and refer, as necessary, official communications from the Governor's Office, the State Police, State Emergency Management Office (SEMO), or other agencies. In addition, the Duty Officer receives and responds to public health inquiries. Calls to this number during normal working hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) go to the NYSDOH switchboard
